Puppies Sales:

Your needs of having a serious upland hunting companion start being fulfilled at the very beginning with the proper selection of a quality puppy. High Prairie Farms is “Dedicated to Excellence.” Our breeding program’s emphasis is on physical and mental soundness with acute focus on all the attributes required in a hunting dog. In my experience, it has been proven time and again that puppies out of quality field breeding have the talents bred into them to achieve excellence in the hunting environments. Young puppies around twelve to twenty weeks old should inherently demonstrate the natural traits of quartering and the desire to pick up and retrieve objects. Once your hunting prospect has been secured, High Prairie Farms Flushing Spaniels LLC offers the highest quality professional training services for the upland hunter. Since 1989, I have developed a training system which is based on the development and enhancement of natural talent. It is my responsibility as a trainer to harness and finesse these natural traits.

At High Prairie Farms we know that dogs need harnessed drive developed through training to excel in the demanding real hunting world. We understand and appreciate the value of a total hunting dog package that hunts hard, is in control and is trained to the highest standard to take handling to blind retrieves on land and in water.

The tests put on the versatile hunting spaniel are many. It takes knowledge and experience to make dogs excel and reach their fullest potential in the hunting field. I have that knowledge and experience! I know pheasants, grouse, quail and huns. Throw in a few ducks or a rabbit along the way and you can have the perfect versatile gun dog.

Trained Gundogs for Sale:

If your life style is too restrictive to start with a puppy and/or having one professionally trained, High Prairie Farms Flushing Spaniels offers started and finished hunting dogs for sale.

Many times these dogs can be an economical and efficient way to get into the hunting field. There still will be a transition period to the new owner and home life but they will have the experience and training to carry them directly into the hunting field.

These dogs will appear on the different pages as they move up through the regular training routine and move up to the higher training levels as they advance. Please keep checking back to view the options!

Started dogs:

Started dogs are usually younger dogs that have a fundamental start in the field. These dogs have basic “on-lead” obedience training. They quarter in the hunting field, turn on the whistle to establish a set natural range and find, flush and chase game. They have been introduced to the gun and retrieve shot game to hand. Most dogs in this class have been introduced to basic swimming as well. These dogs are not steady to wing or shot and have no training in handling blind retrieves. The training work for these dogs is started on pigeons. Most will have some exposure to chukars and/or pheasants prior to sale. These dogs are a “ready to go” hunting companion at a reasonable investment. (link to started dog page)

Finished Dogs:

Finished dogs are the next level higher. A finished dog has all the attributes of the started dog with every aspect of training brought to a higher standard. In addition, these dogs have been through the steadying process. A steady dog has been trained to stop or sit on the flush, gun shot and whistle. He/she will retrieve only on your command. A finished dog requires twice the training time of a started dog. This level of training gives you much more control in the hunting environment and has many safety advantages. All of our finished dogs have been introduced to swimming and have started work on training for blind retrieves. They will be well experienced on pheasants. The finished dog price is higher due to the higher level of training.
